P1111
Intake Air Temperature (IAT) Sensor Circuit Intermittent High Voltage
What it means
P1111. Intake Air Temperature (IAT) Sensor Circuit Intermittent High Voltage. This Chevy-enhanced code applies to Silverado, Sierra, Equinox, Malibu, Traverse.
Findings, check these first
- Failing IAT sensor with intermittent internal open
- IAT signal wire rubbed through near the airbox
- Loose terminals in the MAF/IAT combo connector
- rodent-chewed wiring at the intake duct
- Corroded PCM connector pins on the IAT circuit
Standard procedure
- Monitor IAT on a Tech2 or GDS2 and watch for sudden -40 degree dropouts
- Wiggle-test the intake harness while watching live IAT data
- Inspect the MAF/IAT connector terminals for spread or corrosion
- Measure IAT sensor resistance across a temperature swing versus spec
- Replace the IAT or MAF assembly only if resistance is out of range, then clear and road test
