P1112
Intake Air Temperature (IAT) Sensor Circuit Intermittent Low Voltage
What it means
P1112. Intake Air Temperature (IAT) Sensor Circuit Intermittent Low Voltage. This Chevy-enhanced code applies to Silverado, Sierra, Equinox, Malibu, Traverse.
Findings, check these first
- Shorted IAT sensor element pulling voltage low
- IAT signal wire shorted to ground in the intake harness
- Oil-contaminated MAF/IAT combo connector
- Failed MAF assembly with internal IAT short
- PCM 5V reference pulled low by another sensor
Standard procedure
- Watch live IAT data on a Tech2 or GDS2 for sudden implausible heat spikes
- Disconnect the MAF/IAT connector and check whether voltage returns to bias level
- Inspect the intake harness for melted or pinched sections near the exhaust
- Test IAT resistance versus temperature chart before replacing anything
- Replace the MAF/IAT assembly only on failed resistance tests, then clear and road test
