Electronic Throttle System Throttle Position
What it means
P1515. Electronic Throttle System Throttle Position. This Chevy-enhanced code applies to Silverado, Sierra, Tahoe, Yukon, Escalade, Hummer H2.
Findings, check these first
- Worn throttle position sensors inside the throttle body disagreeing with each other
- Carbon buildup binding the throttle blade on high-mileage Vortec engines
- Corroded throttle body connector from moisture under the engine cover
- Low system voltage during cranking corrupting TAC position learn
Standard procedure
- Read both TP sensor voltages with a Tech2/GDS2 scan tool; they must track together through the full sweep
- Clean the throttle bore and perform the TAC relearn procedure first
- Load-test the battery and charging system since low voltage sets false TAC codes
- Replace the throttle body assembly only if the sensors disagree after cleaning
