P1689
Traction Control Delivered Torque Output Circuit
What it means
P1689. Traction Control Delivered Torque Output Circuit. This Chevy-enhanced code applies to Silverado, Sierra, Monte Carlo, Impala, Express.
Findings, check these first
- Open or shorted delivered torque signal wire between the PCM and the EBCM
- Corroded EBCM or PCM connector terminals on the delivered torque circuit
- Failing EBCM unable to supply the delivered torque pull-up voltage
- Chafed harness where the delivered torque circuit crosses the frame rail
Standard procedure
- Check for companion ABS or TCS codes such as C0287 or C1276 first
- Measure delivered torque signal voltage against the 4.75 to 5.25 volt window
- Test the circuit for opens and shorts to ground or voltage end to end
- Inspect EBCM and PCM grounds since a bad ground skews the PWM signal
- Replace the EBCM or PCM only after the circuit proves good per the diagnostic table
